Washington County Emergency Medical Service Department is a true 3rd Public Safety EMS Department. Serving approximately 700 square miles including Brenham, Burton, Chappell Hill, and the Carmine area. Washington County EMS is licensed as a MICU (Mobile Intensive Care Unit) system by the Texas Department of State Health Services. We are a comprehensive EMS System that handles all of our communities' needs including emergency transfers, non-emergency transfers, 911 call, and critical care transfers. Annual call volume is approximately 5,000 per year and in 2009 we treated more than 5,100 patients. We believe that a small departent does not mean limitations. Infact we believe we are able to do more because of our size. The department used the most state of the art clinical equipment as well as a papeless ePCR and RMS database. With full CAD integrated mobile data terminals and a single public safety answering point that works efficiently with our department. We continiously strive to enhance our operations for the betterment of patient care.
We are a very progressive system that believes one of the most important aspects of our system is our employees. Our paramedics are extensively trained and educated on a near daily basis. Realizing the demands of rural EMS, our system has several key divisions that help us succeed. Our Special Operations Division is composed of paramedics who train on the '"unusual" EMS scenarios that necessitates technical rescue, swift water, hazmat, or a number of other scenarios. The Special Operations Division also oversees our advanced life support bike team and ATV which is used in dense populas events in our county. Recently we have entered into an agreement with the Brenham Police Department to provide Tactical Paramedics to support their SWAT Operations. Our Paramedics start at $40,338/annually with an extensive benefit package as well including 100% paid medical package. We have a user friendly hiring process containing five simple steps. If you would like more information on our system or hiring process, please contact Lt. J. Knuppel (Recruiter) 979-277-6267 or jknuppel@wacounty.com
