Washington County EMS

Education & Training Division

Since the inception of WCEMS we have had a very strong educational program.  In fact we believe that education both in the public and internal sectors are the core of a successful EMS system. WCEMS has had a successful training program accredited through the Texas Dept. of State Health Services for over 20 years. We have been educating and graduating Paramedics and EMT’s from our program for over 20 years.  The cornerstone of an effective EMS system is just that "a successful education program".  Our Training Division (both public and internal) is overseen by Captain Tricia Senteno and EMS Director - Kevin Deramus (EMS-CC).  Tricia is a licensed paramedic and certified EMS Instructor (DSHS) who serves as our clinical improvement and compliance officer.  The training division is compromised of numerous EMS-Instructors as well as ACLS, PALS, and BTLS instructors.  We typically do an EMT-Basic Course one year and then follow it with a Paramedic School the next. This rotating schedule has allowed WCEMS to remain staffed an a MICU Level for nearly 30 years.

As a full comprehensive EMS system we not only believe in internal (or department) education but we also realize the benefit of education the community in which we serve. Each year we sponsor numerous inter-agency training days, CPR courses, AED courses, or just guest lecturers for many events throughout the year.  We believe for our size of service our committment to the community is unparaled.  If you have any questions concerning public speaking events, CPR courses, or EMS certification courses please call Tricia Senteno,LP at (979)277-6267 or email her at tmay@wacounty.com
