Washington County EMS continously strives to provide excellent care to residents and visitors of the county. As part of that effort WCEMS has maintained a Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) level of certification through the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) since 1978. Our Service area includes 700 Square miles rural area with a mutual aid agreement with Fayette County that includes a dual response making total service area of 800 Square Miles.

The primary transport destination is Trinity Medical Center (www.trinitymed.org) in south of downtown brenham. With a Level 3 trauma designation, Trinity also has a 2 general surgeons that are acting trauma surgeons with other spcialties including ortho, OB/GYN, otolaryngology (ENT), anesthesiology. WCEMS is a "comprehensive" EMS Department serving all of the community's needs. In addition to covering all 911 responses in our area we also provide local non-emergency transports and emergency transfers to other hospitals. Annual responses: 2004-3560 total responses and for 2005-4394 total responses.

At Washington County EMS a large effort is made in part by each employee to provide the best possible care to the citizens and visitors of our county and response area. Field staff work a 24/48 schedule and operate two 24hr units and a 10 hour peak unit. The EMS Director and EMS captian also participate in responses by providing additional support in a Ford F-150 and Ford Expedition. EMS Shift Lieutenants are currently on responding units and maintain the integrity of the service.
