Driveway Access on County Right of
Way
Washington County currently has a procedure regarding driveway access on a
county maintained right of way. There is no fee for this service but a permit (pdf), permit (word doc) must be
submitted, and rules followed to be allowed. Please be aware all culverts are to
be corrugated galvanized metal pipe, of the size we determine.
If submitting a permit we have a brief description, which should help the
process. Please be advised the LAND OWNER must sign the permit.
Please sign and return your permit with a simple map of the property
location, (identifying marks, i.e. barns, color of house, gate,
neighbor…) where the culvert will be installed. Remember to include a
daytime phone number on the permit. Also, please be aware that we need the area
staked as soon as possible. Place a stake on each side of the area where you
want the culvert placed. We will not send a representative out to determine the
size unless the area is staked.
After we have determined the size of culvert needed, we will contact you with
this information. Once you have made your purchase of the culvert please notify
our office of the vendor that is handling your culvert. We do not pick up
culverts, so we will contact the local supplier for delivery when we are able to
set the culvert. You may deliver the culvert yourself, however, the County will
not be responsible for stolen or damaged culverts waiting to be set. For your
convenience we have listed some of the local suppliers in Brenham.
