Rothermel and the staff of the Washington County Clerk's Office.  Our goal is to provide the citizens of Washington County and all those who utilize this office with professional and friendly service. We have tried to make this site as helpful and user friendly as you will find our office and staff if you visited our courthouse location. For a Marriage License, please make an appointment by calling 979-277-6200 for the County Clerk's Office.

Cost of Marriage License is $81.00, if one or both parties is a Texas resident with valid ID.

Cost of Marriage License is $181.00, if neither party is a Texas resident.

  Bill of Sale Records for Enslaved Individuals (index); volume and page can then be searched and documents viewed at www.edoctecinc.com.  (1836 - 1865)

  To search for individual(s), click on Washington County, then Public Records, then Land.  Enter Volume and page as found on the above index of Bill of Sale.  Our hope is that these records can assist families in their genealogical research.

ASSUMED NAME FORM (fillable) - also called a DBA form (Doing Business As); all owners of the business must sign and have their signature notarized;  The cost to file an Assumed Name form is $25.00. 

ASSUMED NAME WITHDRAWAL FORM - to withdraw name and owners of business; all owners that signed the original Assumed Name must sign and have their signature notarized.  Cost to file is $25.00.

  • The Washington County Clerk offers property owners a free service to alert them of potential property fraud. This service will notify subscribers within 24 hours when a document with their registered name on it has been recorded into the county's Official Public Records.
